CMAA Insurance Cover
The CMAA is a membership based organisation and as such when applicants fill out the CMAA membership application form they are NOT applying for or paying for insurance, instead they are applying for 12 months membership to their respective club and the CMAA.
All CMAA student members are automatically insured, free of charge, to train/spar/compete within CMAA clubs and at CMAA events so long as their CMAA membership/licence is in date. This also includes training as a guest at other CMAA clubs.
Any CMAA member Instructor is welcome to a copy of our current confirmation of cover document and can request one by clicking here.
The CMAA Insurance arrangements have been placed through Allianz Plc. Beginners and visitors must take out CMAA membership after 3 sessions in order to continue training and be covered by our group policy.
Please note the following points:
POINT 1
Attending Events/Courses/Competitions Outside of The CMAA Group
While CMAA members are more then welcome to train and compete where ever they wish, our insurance does not extend beyond the CMAA so wont cover you outside of the group, this is also the same with many other martial arts groups . The reason for this is that with events outside of the CMAA we can’t be sure that the correct risk assessments have been caried out or that the correct qualifications, DBS checks etc. are in place. Members are therefor advised to ALWAYS ask the event organiser to provide evidence that the event is insured prior to taking part and more important ensure that THEIR INSURANCE covers you to train/spar/compete (member/member).
POINT 2
Non-Members Attending CMAA Events
CMAA events are open to everyone so when a non-member attends an event they are granted ‘guest membership’ for the duration which automictically places them under the CMAA insurance.
POINT 3
Summary of Free Cover for Students/Members
CMAA student insurance cover is £5,000,000 member/member and public liability only. This is free of charge and provides cover should they injure another or damage property while training which results in a claim being lodged against them personally. This is negligence/fault based which means in practice that all incidents are covered so long as someone is at fault/to blame. Pure accidents where there is no negligence or contributory negligence are not included in this level of free cover, if members require a higher level of cover it is suggested that they seek “no fault” personal accident cover of their own. For further information please contact the CMAA.
POINT 4
Student Membership Renewals
Club Instructors will initially register new students for CMAA membership. Renewals must then be done annually via the club Instructor and while club Instructors will periodically check a student's CMAA membership is still valid (gradings etc), ensuring CMAA annual membership is renewed on time remains the sole responsibility of the student, not the club or Instructor.
POINT 5
Summary of Cover for Instructors
Instructors Public & Products Liability Insurance (professional indemnity) is available from Allianz Plc at £5,000,000
or £10,000,000 per Instructor. There is a portal in the Instructor Area on this website which Instructors can use to purchase cover direct from the insurance company which then results in instant cover.
POINT 6
Mixed Martial Arts/Cage Fighting
While our policy does cover non competitive training in Mixed Martial Arts, fights in a cage/ring and sparring are excluded from
this and all policies in the UK due to the high level of risk involved.
POINT 7
Martial Arts Equipment/Contents Cover
While this is not included within our standard policy many members recommend Hiscox - Click Here.
